Entry for September 30, 2006
We had downpour in the evening, and it really rained elephants and buffalos.
While we had dinner, suddenly there was noise of a
loud explosion somewhere outside, and power was just...
OUT!!!
It was so dark and we could not watch TV or get on the internet.
Our boys killed time by playing the piano and the guitar -- these
musical instruments do not need electricity.
Except for occasional thunderings and the noise of rain hitting the roofs,
our neighborhood was rather quiet since all TVs and radios and computers were out.
Our neighbors were therefore forced to listen to our "concert".
I hope they did not feel it too much annoying!!!
The music lasted at least 2.5 hours. Actually there
were some good songs!
After power was back, I watched the news on TV,
and saw that traffic jam in Bangkok was terrible due to this heavy rain,
and there was flood not too far from us, which would take another 2 - 3 hours to drain.

-- It rained elephants and buffalos!
The name of the last typhoon was
Xangsane.
Its meaning in Chinese is
Elephant God.
Its meaning in Thai is
Big Elephant.
No wonder it rained elephants.
I added buffalos, our country's second biggest land animal.
It definitely did not rain "cats and dogs".
I feel so sorry for the death of so many people
and the traumatic experience of their families and friends.
I pray that none of us have to suffer from anymore loss.
